Institute for Law and the Humanities Speaker,
Geoffrey R. Stone, University of Chicago
As the semester winds down, there is still time for free-ranging
intellectual discussion. The Institute for Law and the Humanities
and the Chicago-Kent chapter of the American Constitution
Society are pleased to announce a talk on Friday, April
29 by Professor Geoffrey R. Stone of the University of Chicago
Law School and the author of the new book, Perilous Times:
Free Speech in Wartime. Professor Stone will be speaking
on "Civil Liberties in Wartime: Adams, Lincoln, Wilson
& FDR." Professor Eric Arnesen, Chair of the History
Department at the University of Illinois, Chicago, will
provide commentary. The program will begin in the Event
Room, 10th floor at 2:00p with a reception afterwards. The
talk is part of a series of events sponsored by the Institute
for Law and the Humanities exploring the theme of the imperial
presidency. We look forward to seeing you there.
