Restricted Access for Final Exams
Friday, May 3- Friday, May 17

During this period, use of the Chicago-Kent LawLibrary will be restricted to students, faculty, and staff of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Law students from John Marshall and University of Chicago may also use the library with a valid ID, since those institutions have a reciprocal agreement with us. Everyone will be required to show an ID at the entrance. Illinois Tech students may obtain a special wristband that may be used instead of an ID. . . show your ID and ask for a wristband! After that, you need only show us your wristband to gain admittance.

Library Hours

Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Reference Hours

Monday -Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

If you have a reference question in the evening or over the weekend, send an email to refreq@kentlaw.iit.edu or complete the research consultation form, and a librarian will get in touch with you the morning of the next business day.

General Library Policies

While using the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law Library, please observe the following polices:

Security and Safety


Personal belongings must never be left unattended. Unattended items may be moved by security officers during routine patrols. Inquiries about lost items should be made at the 1st floor security desk.
Any person using the Library may be asked by Library staff and/or security personnel to show appropriate identification. Refusal to comply may result in removal from the facility.

Food and Drink

Drinks are permitted in the Library, but not in the computer lab. Food is not permitted anywhere in the Library including the Library's outdoor spaces.

Smoking and Tobacco Products

IIT is subject to the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act and Chicago Clean Indoor Air Ordinance. Smoking and the use of tobacco or similar products is prohibited in the Library and the Library's outdoor spaces.

Cell Phones

Users of the Library are asked to conduct cell phone conversations outside the library or in stairwells. Turn off ringers and leave phones on "vibrate" while in the Library.

Filming/Photography

Individuals who wish to film or take photographs in the Library must contact the Library Director to seek permission.
