New Databases Available on Information Center Home Page.
The Information Center has made two new databases available for on-campus use.  Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) focuses on international research, and includes working papers from research institutes, papers from NGOs, conference proceedings, policy briefs, and economic indicators.  EBSCOhost Web provides access to the full texts of journal articles, including large collections of business- and health-related topics, as well as articles from mainstream periodicals.  Links to both databases can be found on the Information Center's home page, www.infoctr.edu

The Information Center Has Added a Leisure Reading Section.
The Chicago-Kent Library now has a Leisure Reading Section.  It's located on the 9th floor, row 916.  This section consists of a combination of paperbacks donated to the library by staff, students and many others.  You may take a book or leave a book.   There is no checkout or return procedure.  If you have a lay over between classes or a long ride home and just want to relax and read something interesting and enjoyable, visit the leisure reading section.

Keep Your Lexis and Westlaw Passwords Active This Summer.
Lexis and Westlaw have new procedures this year for summer passwords. For Lexis summer passwords, register online.  Go to http://lexis.com and choose the link to Law Schools.  Follow the directions online and fill out the form.  New this year: summer passwords are available to unpaid externs, such as public interest or judicial, as well as the traditional school related purposes, such as law review and research assistants.

This year Westlaw will extend passwords automatically over the summer for students who are not graduating.  Therefore there is no online registration procedure for this and no postcard registration, as for previous years. Students should note that summer passwords are limited to two hours of research per month for June and July for LAW SCHOOL PURPOSES only, such as law review and summer school.  Westlaw does not provide extended passwords for interns and externs.

Westlaw is offering graduating students a Before the Bar program which students may use to prepare for the bar for two months after graduation.  The online registration for this is at http://lawschool.westlaw.com and includes filling out a survey form.

Tutorial: How to Find  Illinois Practice Materials.
For the next two weeks, the Information Center will be running tutorials on how to find Illinois Practice materials.  We will show you both print and electronic resources that will be of use to attorneys who practice in Illinois.  There is no need to sign up for tutorials; just come to the Reference Desk at the scheduled time.  You can find the schedule posted in the entry way of the Library.  If you have any questions or suggestions regarding tutorials, please e-mail Joe Mitzenmacher (JMITZENM).
