New Lexis and Westlaw Printers
Beginning Monday, January 14th, free Lexis and Westlaw printing will be available in the computer labs.  The new printers are to be used by students for all printing from Lexis and Westlaw.  Directions for using them will be available in the computer labs.  Staff and faculty should still print to the Document Center.

To use the printers, use the print feature in Lexis or Westlaw.  Do not use the print feature in your browser.  If you do, the job will print on the lab network printer and will be charged to your Chicago-Kent printing account.

On Monday, January 14th there will be a special event to promote the printers and Lexis and Westlaw student representatives will be available throughout the week to answer your questions and to help you use the new printers.  Stop by one of the computer labs to check out the new printers and pick up your copy of the directions.

Resource of the Week
PapersFirst from OCLC FirstSearch.  After clicking the link, select PapersFirst from the dropdown menu called 'Select a Topic or Database'.  PapersFirst provides access to abstracts and publication information for papers presented at conferences worldwide.

Legal Formbooks Tutorial
In this week's Library Tutorial we will show you the legal formbooks available in the Library, as well as other less familiar resources that contain legal forms.  There is no need to sign up to attend; just come to the Reference Desk at the scheduled time. You can find the weekly schedule posted in the entry way to the library. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding tutorials, please e-mail Joe Mitzenmacher (JMITZENM).

Consideration for Others in the Library
Please try to maintain a quiet atmosphere in the Library for the benefit of all those who are studying around you.  If you need to work in a group, study rooms are available.  You may use any unreserved study room, or make a reservation at the Service Desk with your current ID.

Interlibrary Loan Policy
Interlibrary Loan is now available to all Downtown Campus students.  This service can be used to borrow a book that is not owned by the Downtown Campus Libraries or a copy of an article not available in the library.  Once you are certain the library does not own an item and that it cannot be obtained through one of the online databases maintained by the library, send an email to illreq@kentlaw.edu to request a loan of the book. The library's directory of online resources, including the catalog, is at infoctr.edu. Please note that ILL requests commonly require one to two weeks to fill.

Study Room Policy
Study rooms are for group study by IIT students using the Downtown Campus Libraries' resources.  You may reserve a room in advance at the Service Desk with your current ID.

Library Cell  Phone Policy
Before entering the Library, cell phones must be turned off.  In addition, you must leave the Library before using your cell phone. We have been inundated with complaints about the disturbances caused by cell phone usage in the Library, which has forced us to adopt this policy.

For those of you with an emergency situation who must be reachable by cell phone, you can leave your phone on ONLY if it gets your attention by some method other than ringing. If you have one that vibrates quietly or uses a blinking light, you can leave it on while you are in the Library. This exception does not change the requirement that you leave the Library to use your phone.

Library Food and Drink Policy
1) Drinks are permitted, except in the computer labs,  if they are in a reusable hard plastic or metal container with a permanent lid that does not have to be removed to drink.  Water is allowed in a standard water bottle with a securable cap.

Not allowed are: cans, styrofoam or paper cups, or soft drinks in bottles.

2) Food is not permitted in the Library.

3) No food or drinks of any kind are allowed in the computer labs.

Please Guard Your Valuables
Personal belongings, such as laptops, wallets, purses, briefcases, cell phones and Palmtops should be carried with you any time you leave your study area.
