Don't Forget Your Validation Sticker

To reserve a study room or check out books, all students must have a student ID with a valid sticker for the current semester. Validation stickers are available in the Registrar's office. Please remember to get your sticker if you have not already done so.

Lexis and Westlaw Printers

Free Lexis and Westlaw printing is available to students using the Lexis and Westlaw printers.  Directions for using the printers are available in the computer labs and at the Service Desk.  Staff and faculty should still print to the Document Center.

To use the printers, use the print feature in Lexis or Westlaw.  Do not use the print feature in your browser.  Printing using the browser's feature will charge the job to your Chicago-Kent account.

Check the Lexis and Westlaw entries in the Record for further details and updates on the free printing.

Resource of the Week

Official Web Locator for the UN System of Organizations.  Provides alphabetized and thematic lists of web pages and an organizational chart for the U.N.

Company Information Tutorial

This week's Library tutorial covers federal tax research.  We will show you where to find the Internal Revenue Code, IRS Regulations, Revenue Rulings, Private Letter Rulings, and Tax Treaties, both in print and in online sources such as CCH Tax Service.  You can find the tutorial schedule posted in the entry way of the Library.   There is no need to sign up to attend; just come to the Reference Desk at the scheduled time.  If you have questions or suggestions regarding tutorials please send an e-mail to Joe Mitzenmacher (JMITZENM)

Interlibrary Loan Policy

Interlibrary Loan is available to all Downtown Campus students.  This service can be used to borrow a book that is not owned by the Downtown Campus Libraries or a copy of an article not available in the library.  Once you are certain the library does not own an item and that it cannot be obtained through one of the online databases maintained by the library, send an email to to request a loan of the book. The library's directory of online resources, including the catalog, is at Please note that ILL requests commonly require one to two weeks to fill.

Consideration for Others in the Library

Please try to maintain a quiet atmosphere in the Library for the benefit of all those who are studying around you.  If you need to work in a group, study rooms are available.  You may use any unreserved study room, or make a reservation at the Service Desk with your current ID.

Study Room Policy

Study rooms are for group study by IIT students using the Downtown Campus Libraries' resources.  You may reserve a room in advance at the Service Desk with your current ID.

Library Cell  Phone Policy

Before entering the Library, cell phones must be turned off.  In addition, you must leave the Library before using your cell phone. We have been inundated with complaints about the disturbances caused by cell phone usage in the Library, which has forced us to adopt this policy.

For those of you with an emergency situation who must be reachable by cell phone, you can leave your phone on ONLY if it gets your attention by some method other than ringing. If you have one that vibrates quietly or uses a blinking light, you can leave it on while you are in the Library. This exception does not change the requirement that you leave the Library to use your phone.

Library Food and Drink Policy

1) Drinks are permitted, except in the computer labs,  if they are in a reusable hard plastic or metal container with a permanent lid that does not have to be removed to drink.  Water is allowed in a standard water bottle with a securable cap.

Not allowed are: cans, styrofoam or paper cups, or soft drinks in bottles.

2) Food is not permitted in the Library.

3) No food or drinks of any kind are allowed in the computer labs.

Please Guard Your Valuables

Personal belongings, such as laptops, wallets, purses, briefcases, cell phones and Palmtops should be carried with you any time you leave your study area.
