New Drink Policy
We've changed our drink policy to give you more options. Drinks
are now allowed
in either of the following two containers:
1) Capped bottles;
2) Hard plastic or metal mugs with lids.
Drinks are not allowed in cans, Styrofoam (with or without
lids), or any other non-lidded receptacle.
Food is still not permitted in the library. If you have any
questions, please contact a reference
librarian at the Service
Desk.

Featured Resource
U.S.
Congressional Serial Set. Users can search electronic
versions of congressional documents. Currently, this resource
covers 1817-1831. New volumes are added regularly.
WebVoyage
WebVoyage is the new online catalog for the Downtown Campus
Library. You can use WebVoyage at the library desk or at http://library.ilcso.illinois.edu/iit/.
This new online catalog allows you to find similar materials
with “More Like This”, keep your research for later use with
“MyBookbag”, request email updates when the library adds materials
of interest to you, and allows you to renew your books online.
More about new WebVoyage features is available on the Library's
web page, http://library.kentlaw.edu. You will need your new
bar-coded student ID to check out books with the online check-out
feature. Please allow a few extra minutes for your first online
checkout or stop by the Library desk ahead of time so the staff
can make sure your account information is correctly in the system.
E-mail Terminals
The next time you are in the Library and need to do a quick
check of your e-mail, you can use one of the Library's four
e-mail terminals. The terminals are located across from the
Service Desk, in front of the book sale and career services
collection, and will allow access to any Web-based e-mail service,
including your Kentlaw account via Webmail ( http://webmail.kentlaw.edu )
.
If you have any questions about using the terminals, please
feel free to ask a Reference Librarian.
Library Suggestion Box
A suggestion box is available in the Library.
The box is mounted to the wall on your right as you enter the Library on the 9th
floor. All suggestions, comments, and complaints will be answered as soon as
possible, usually within 24 hours of receipt. Both suggestions and replies will
be posted on a bulletin board to the left of the box.
You are not limited to the suggestion box! Please send me an E-mail to:
Keith Stiverson,
give me a call (x65610), or come to see me in room 871 if there
is anything you want to discuss about the Library or its services.
Keith Ann Stiverson, Library Director
Consideration for Others in the Library
Please try to maintain a quiet atmosphere in the Library
for the benefit of all those who are studying around you. If you need to work
in a group, study rooms are available. You may use any unreserved study room,
or make a reservation at the Service Desk with your current ID.
Study Room Policy
Study rooms are for group study by IIT students using the
Downtown Campus Library's resources. You may reserve a room in advance at the
Service Desk with your current ID.
Library Cell Phone Policy
Before entering the Library, cell phones must be turned off. In addition, you
must leave the Library before using your cell phone. We have been inundated
with complaints about the disturbances caused by cell phone usage in the
Library, which has forced us to adopt this policy.
For those of you with an emergency situation who must be reachable by cell
phone, you can leave your phone on ONLY if it gets your attention by some
method other than ringing. If you have one that vibrates quietly or uses a
blinking light, you can leave it on while you are in the Library. This
exception does not change the requirement that you leave the Library to use
your phone.
Library Food and Drink Policy
1) Drinks are permitted,
except in the computer
labs, if they are
in reusable hard plastic or metal mugs or if they are in bottles
with securable caps.
Please Guard Your Valuables
Personal belongings must be carried with you each time you
leave your study area. Theft of wallets is a recurring problem. If your
belongings are discovered unattended, security personnel may remove them to a
safer location.
