General Library Policies

Please be courteous and respect your fellow students by keeping your voices down and your study areas clean. Food should remain outside the library. If you must bring a cell phone, please turn it off or set the ringer to vibrate, and remember to take the phone outside the library before you start your conversation. Drinks may be brought into the library, provided that you dispose of the container in the appropriate recycling bin when you are finished. No food or drinks of any kind are allowed in the computer labs. You can find more library policies online: http://library.kentlaw.edu/services/students.htm

The Library staff wishes to remind all students that the Library is open to the public, and students should guard against petty thefts by keeping their laptops and other valuables close at all times.

Featured Resource

National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). The National Bureau of Economic Research site contains abstracts and some full text documents of papers written by researchers at NBER. The NBER site also has a monthly newsletter which provides information about upcoming research papers. The NBER site is accessible through the Electronic Databases and Resources link on the library’s main page.

Restricted Access to Library for Finals

Study space in the Library will be restricted to IIT students, faculty and staff from November 15 to December 20. This time period covers Fall quarter finals for business students and Read Week and final exams for law students.

Please be prepared to show your IIT ID card to a staff member.

Universal Borrowing

As we announced earlier, you now have the power to request books online from any ILCSO library.

UB works in two different ways. The first is with your IIT student ID card. Simply take it to any library that participates in the consortium, and you can check out a book. The second way involves the catalog. Start by searching for a book in our catalog. If we don't have it, click on the “Repeat search in All ILCSO Libraries” link. This will perform your search in the consortial catalog and let you know if any of the other libraries have the book. You can request the book from the link at the top of the screen. In a few days, the book will show up at the circulation desk, where you can pick it up.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask a Reference librarian, 312-906-5670, or email refreq@kentlaw.edu.
