Introducing the Library's New Website

On June 1, the Library unveiled the latest version of our†website at http://library.kentlaw.edu.† The website has a new look and organization that will simplify locating Library resources and information.† We've added new features, including†more about our†services to faculty and students.††Note that†some resources†now have new locations.† For example, our hours, staff list, and maps are under "Access."† Electronic databases and journals can be found in the†"E-Resources" section.† The online version of the†Daily Bulletin is now under "Services".†

Please use our feedback form to let us know if you have any questions or problems, or contact our Electronic Resources Librarian, Debbie Ginsberg, at dginsberg@kentlaw.edu.

I-Share Upgrade Began on June 6

The libraryís catalog will be upgraded in the month of June. As of June 6, the ability to request books through the I-Share catalog was unavailable. We expect the request function to be unavailable for a minimum of 3 weeks. Once the upgrade has been completed, the request function will be restored.†

We expect most requests made before June 6 to be processed and arrive on time. Any requested items that have not arrived by June 15 will likely expire and will need to be re-requested after the upgrade is completed.†

Normally, Downtown Campus Students can go directly to other I-Share libraries and check out books with an IIT ID. Since all I-Share libraries' catalogs are being upgraded at the same time,†other local I-Share libraries will not be able to handle requests from outside students. During the upgrade, IIT students will not be able to check out books at other I-Share libraries.†

If you have questions about your pending requests, please ask at the Circulation Desk.

Library Policy for Graduating Students

If you are graduating this semester, you need to turn in your books and pay all your fines by May 21, 2006, or your academic record may be blocked.†

Special privileges can be arranged for recent graduates who need to use the Library to find a job. Please contact Eric Neagle, Circulation Manager, (312) 906-5662 or eneagle@kentlaw.edu

General Library Policies

Please be courteous and respect your fellow students by keeping your voices down and your study areas clean. Food should remain outside the library. If you must bring a cell phone, please turn it off or set the ringer to vibrate, and remember to take the phone outside the library before you start your conversation. Drinks may be brought into the library, provided that you dispose of the container in the appropriate recycling bin when you are finished. No food or drinks of any kind are allowed in the computer labs. You can find more library policies online: http://library.kentlaw.edu/services/students.htm

The Library staff wishes to remind all students that the Library is open to the public, and students should guard against petty thefts by keeping their laptops and other valuables close at all times.

Student Library Survey

From time-to-time, the Library likes to get feedback from the student body. Please take a moment to complete the Library Student Survey online at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=372551838361 (or follow the link from the Libraryís homepage). If you want to tell us something, but donít want to take the survey, you can always put a suggestion in the Suggestion Box by the Circulation Desk, or email us at library@kentlaw.edu.
