General Library Policies

While using the Downtown Campus Library, please observe the following rules and polices:

Courteous Behavior
Please respect the rights of others who wish to study and work in the Library. Keep your study area neat and clean. Move unwanted library materials to a re-shelving area. Walk quietly through study areas. Refrain from writing in or marking-up library materials. Don’t block pathways with your laptop cord (plug it in under your table). Erase the whiteboard in your study room when you leave. Don’t move the furniture around. Generally, treat others the way you wish to be treated.

Food and Drink
You may bring any drink into the Library. We ask, however, that you pick up after yourself and use the appropriate recycling bin. Food is never allowed, so don’t bring it into the Library.

Noise & Cell Phones
Please respect the other patrons in the Library and whisper quietly, if you need to talk. Keep noise levels down on personal music devices, and always wear your headphones. If noise in the Library is bothering you, inform the Service Desk. Please do not use your cell phone in the Library, computer lab, or study rooms. If you need to make a call, take your cell phone outside the Library or into one of the stairwells.

Unattended Belongings
Please do not leave your valuables unattended. The Library is open to the public and thefts, while not frequent, have occurred. Belongings that are left unattended for extended periods of time will be taken by security. If you are missing any personal items, please tell the Circulation Desk on the 9th floor.

Library Fun: New Law in Popular Culture Collection

The Law in Popular Culture Collection is a special collection that invites students to investigate the popular perception of law, lawyers, judges, and trials. The collection also includes selected works written by lawyers and judges and selected non-fiction works about the popular perception of lawyers and judges. While the main focus of the collection is on the law in American popular culture, other viewpoints are represented. The collection contains books, DVDs, and other media that may be checked-out by DTC students, faculty and staff.

If you want to suggest titles, please send them to Holly Lakatos, the Library’s Director of Public Services, at: hlakatos@kentlaw.edu. The Library will have a very small budget for this collection, but if you have any books or DVDs that fit the collection, we would be happy to accept them as gifts. Just drop them off at the circulation desk. Be sure to include your name and contact information so that we can put a bookplate in the book or DVD case and so we can write to thank you.

Recent additions to the collection can be found online at: http://library.kentlaw.edu/collection/lpop.htm

New Copy/Print System

The Library has installed a new copy card system! DTC students can use their new student IDs as copy cards by adding money at the new vend station in the 9th floor copy room. New copy cards will also be available for purchase in the 9th floor copy room.

The 7th, 10th, and one of the 9th floor copiers now only accept the new card. If you have an old copy card, you can still use it at the one designated copier on the 9th floor until October 1, 2006.

If you have any questions about the new card system or the photocopiers, please ask the Circulation Desk.

Featured Resource: Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR)

Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR). The Physician’s Desk Reference (PDR) is the most authoritative source for information on prescription drugs. The print version (located in the Reference Stacks at RS75.P5) and the online version both contain information on when a drug is prescribed, the chemical composition of a drug, and information on possible side-effects. In addition, both versions include photographs of each drug listed.
