Meeting for students interested in becoming more involved with Operation Kosovo

The Global Law and Policy Initiative will hold a meeting on Wednesday, September 8, 1999 at 3:00 PM in Room 305.

The purpose of the meeting is to familiarize students with Chicago-Kent’s Kosovo police force project.  The project is in the process of creating training materials for newly recruited Kosovar police officers based on Chicago police training manuals.

Students can get involved in several ways:

1. Help convert Chicago police training materials into electronic format.

2. Work directly with Chicago police officers to develop training presentations on the following topics:
1) team-building and problem-solving techniques
2) managing internal diversity
3) police ethics and integrity
4) integrating  community policing philosophy and concepts  (i.e. CAPS)
5) developing government and legal institution relations
6) human diversity training
7) police discretion that outlines how every action taken by a police officer is governed by law or discretion

If you would like to find out more about this project, or think you might like to get involved, please come to this meeting.  If you would like to attend but are unable, or would like more information, please contact Scott Waguespack (Swaguesp@kentlaw.edu), or Randy Clarke (rclarke@kentlaw.edu).
