NEW! Externship at the Mexican Consulate

This fall Chicago-Kent offered its first externship at the Mexican Consulate. 3L and GLAPI staff member Christa Garcia is the first student to participate in the externship and has so far had good things to say: "The work at the consulate is very interesting. The issues we deal with cover a very broad spectrum, including situations such as divorce, education, criminal convictions, cultural awareness in the legal system, and immigration/deportation issues. The perspective from the Mexican Consualte is unique because we do not "represent" people but instead support the attorneys who do, give advice, communicate with the organizations, and sometimes intervene in the form of an amicus. In the short time I have been there, I have learned a lot and I am confident that the overall experience will be an extraordinary one."

If you are interested in doing an externship at the Mexican Consulate, or have questions about the externship or other opportunities involving Mexico or Latin America, please feel free to contact Christa Garcia at cgarcia@kentlaw.edu.
