Strategies for Excellence: Law as a Profession 2002
A Program for Second Year Students
Wednesday, February 6, 2002

Schedule of Events

Strategies for Excellence: Law as a Profession 2002 will be offered twice on February 6th, once for day students, and again for the evening division.  Professional attire is required. Classes for the rest of the student body will be canceled that day.

Day students:
Your day will begin prior to 9:00 a.m. with registration. A continental breakfast will be available after 8:30 a.m., so come early to get a cup of coffee and grab a bagel. The day will conclude at 1 p.m.

Evening students:
Registration and dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. Please contact Navreet Heneghan via e-mail (nhenegha@kentlaw.edu), or by phone at 312-906-5203, if you desire kosher or vegetarian meals. The program will conclude at 9 p.m.

Breakout Session Information:
Both the day and evening program will have two interactive breakout sessions. Most breakout sessions are organized according to practice sector (such as small and mid-sized firms, government, or public interest organizations) and what it is like to practice law in these environments. They are not intended to address particular practice areas such as entertainment law or patent law or job search strategies such as interviewing.

Breakout session assignments will be completed shortly. You will receive an e-mail with your assignments as well as a script covering potential topics for discussion. We ask that you review the script prior to the program in order to generate questions for the speakers.

Speakers

We are very excited about the caliber of speakers who have graciously volunteered their time to speak to students at Strategies for Excellence: Law as a Profession 2002.  This is a chance to meet and impress legal employers from the Chicagoland area.  Therefore, professional attire is required.   Check out the speaker page for a list of breakout session speakers, as well as, keynote and distinguished speakers.

Volunteers Needed

Student volunteers are needed the day of the program. 1Ls - if you're interested in helping out with registration and other miscellaneous duties & 2Ls/3Ls/4Ls - if you're interested in escorting speakers to their rooms (Hint: great networking opportunity) please e-mail profday@kentlaw.edu.
