Student Organization Record InformationThe following is a letter distributed to student organization presidents regarding Record announcements. Please also check out the general procedures page.

Dear Student Organization President,
I'm writing to let you know about the procedures for placing announcements about your student organization in the Chicago-Kent Record. Last year, law school departments and student organizations became responsible for posting their own announcements to the Web-based Record. Organizations are given a template document for creating Record Web pages, and the Center for Law and Computers provides training for members of student organizations on how to post announcements.
This year, training sessions will be offered during the month of September by appointment with Jim Burke from the Center for Law and Computers. Training will take about one hour and is necessary only for members who do not already know how to create Web pages. If your organization already has members who create Web pages, they need only contact Jim to find out where the Record template is on the Web server and to discuss the file upload procedure for your organization. To make an appointment for training or to find out about file upload procedures, please e-mail Jim at JBURKE or call him at 906-5301.
Until someone in your organization is ready to begin posting your Record pages, you may choose to submit your organization's complete Record announcements to the Office of Public Affairs. If you choose to have public affairs post your announcements during the September training period, please e-mail them to RECORD@kentlaw.edu by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Student organization announcements posted by public affairs will be collected together on one general student organization Record page.
Beginning with the October 4 issue, each student organization will be responsible for posting its own announcements on its own Record page each week, and public affairs will include a link to an organization's page from the main Record headline page only if the organization submits headlines for a particular week. Please note that the headline submission deadline is Thursday, September 30 at noon for the October 4 issue. At that time, public affairs will no longer post full announcements for student organizations.
On the attached page, you'll find a set of general procedures for posting to the Record. You can also find a copy of these procedures online by following the link near the student organization section of the main Record page. It is critical that you comply with the deadlines: To post an announcement to the Record for any given week, e-mail a short, descriptive headline describing your announcement to the Office of Public Affairs by noon the preceding Thursday, and make sure you upload your organization's actual announcement to the Web server by noon the preceding Friday.
