Please bring this number with you to each of your final exams. You should also use this number as your "student ID number" when downloading the exam software to your own computer. See below for further instructions.
Exams on Computer
The deadline for students to sign up for exams on computer is April 21, 2006. To sign up for exams on computer, log in to your Webmail account click on the Web for Students link and then follow the appropriate links to the computer exam registration page. Make your selection and press "Submit Selection" button. A confirmation number will be generated for you. After April 21, 2006, your final exam schedule, with the administration method, will be e-mailed to you. PLEASE NOTE: We are continuously receiving requests from faculty to make computers available for their exam(s). If your professor has not yet submitted a form, please check with them or continue to check the system. Seats may open up.
Please note: Signing up is not a guarantee that you will be able to take your exam on computer. We are limited in the number of exams we can administer on computer. Due to limited space in classrooms and computer labs, you may be scheduled to take a "laptop" exam in a computer lab. You will be notified after the sign up deadline as to the status of your request and the location of your exams.
Lab Computer Users: Although the program is simple to use, please spend a few minutes reviewing the SofTest help file that is located on the network. The file may be found at Z:\SpringExams\HelpFile\SofTest.hlp . You may also use SofTest to run a practice exam from any lab computer during the exam period (go to Start, Programs, SofTest, Softest; then click on the Practice button on the lower edge of the screen).
Laptop Users: All students using laptops must install the new version of the SofTest software prior to final exams. If you have used the software previously, you must uninstall the old version and install the new version! Please see the FAQ document on ExamSoft's Web site if you have questions about this process - http://www.examsoft.com/faq
Please make sure that your computer is properly configured to access the Chicago-Kent LAN and that the SofTest registration/qualification process has been completed prior to your final exams. Students with computers that are not properly configured, not registered, or experiencing technical difficulties will be given blue books and will write their final exams. No exceptions to this policy will be made. Additionally, to avoid any technical or computer difficulties, please make sure you bring the following items with you to the exam: SofTest Registration number and qualification numbers- Your network card and cable floppy disk drive (if owned)- Your laptop power cord. Wireless connections are not supported for exams. If you have any technical questions, please check the FAQ page at http://www.examsoft.com/faq or contact the CLC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have any exam administration questions, please contact the Registrar's Office at 312-906-5080. Thank you and good luck with your exams!
Exam conflicts/reschedule request.
Important Information About Spring 2006 Exam Rescheduling.
The Student Handbook requires that you take your final exams
at the times scheduled unless you have an exam conflict
(as defined below), or you have a "serious illness
or other extraordinary or compelling reason" beyond
your control. If you have an exam conflict or believe you
have other reasons justifying the rescheduling of an exam,
please complete the Final Exam Reschedule form on the Web
for Students site (log onto your Webmail account, click
on the Web for Students icon, and navigate to the Final
Exam Reschedule form). The form will be available starting
Wednesday, March 29. The deadline for submitting an
exam reschedule request is Friday, April 14. This
deadline will be strictly enforced. If your request is approved,
the Registrar's office will notify you later this semester
of the rescheduled date, time, and location of your exam.
Under the new policy adopted by the faculty in December,
a student is deemed to have an "exam conflict"
if the student has two exams at the same time, or has two
or more exams within 24 hours (e.g., exams at 8:30 a.m.
and 6:00 p.m., or at 6:00 p.m. and 1:15 the following afternoon).
A conflict does not exist if two exams are scheduled exactly
24 hours apart (e.g., exams at 8:30 a.m. one morning and
8:30 a.m. the next morning).
Pass/Fail Revocation - Deadline May 2, 2006
A student may revoke the pass/fail election and
convert from the pass/fail election to the standard grading
system at any time up to the last day of class for the semester.
The revocation form is available on the Chicago-Kent Web
for Students https://webmail.kentlaw.edu/exchange/logon.asp.
