Registrar's Office

Registrar's Office home page
Week of July 30 and Aug 06, 2012

OFFICE HOURS
The Registrar's Office hours are 8:30am to 6:00pm (M-Thurs),  and Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. If you have any questions regarding your academic records, the Registrar's Office staff will be happy to assist you. You can call us at (312) 906-5080, e-mail us at regq@kentlaw.edu or stop by Suite 220.

Fall 2012 Registration. The final Fall 2012 class schedule, the Registration Bulletin, and the course and exam grids will be available on Monday, April 23, by clicking here or by going to the Current Students page (click on the Fall 2012 Quick Guide link). Print copies will be available on the table outside the third floor cafetria. Registration will take place from Wednesday, April 25 through Saturday, April 28, at 5:00pm. You may register at any time during that period.

After the end of the registration period, the registration requests will be processed according to each student’s registration priority. In other words, registration will not be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis; as long as you register during the designated period, you will have an equal chance of being admitted to a class as other students within your registration priority group. To learn what classes you have been admitted into, you must check the online registration site on or after Thursday, May 3. Registering for a class during the initial registration period is no guarantee that you will be admitted into the class – you must check the web site on or after Thursday, May 3 to learn what classes you have been admitted into.

Students graduating at the end of the Fall 2012 semester who need fewer than the minimum number of hours to graduate may take fewer credits without special permission. In addition, if you will be graduating at the end of the Fall 2012 semester, and will be taking more than the 87 credits required to graduate, you may receive a 50% discount on each credit you take over the required 87 credits. If this affects you, please contct me by email no later than the end of the Fall add/drop period in September, and I will arrange for the credit to be applied to your account.

IP Management and Markets Classes.
IIT offers a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Management and Markets (IPMM). J.D. students in the Intellectual Property Certificate Program may petition to take one of the following Fall 2012 IPMM courses: IPMM 502, IP Assessment; or IPMM 503, Acquiring IP. Course descriptions are available here. If you are a certificate student and are interested in taking one of these classes, please contact Prof. Ed Lee. Please note that, if you receive approval to take one of these classes, the credits will count toward your J.D. degree, but the grades will not appear on your J.D. transcript or count toward your GPA.

Official Student Withdrawal Process.
Students wishing to request a leave of absence from their course of study or complete an official withdrawal from the university should now initiate the process online. To begin the process, log in to the MyIIT portal and under the ‘Academics’ tab, look for the ‘Academic Affairs’ channel. Chicago-Kent students should follow the ‘I want to take a leave of absence or officially withdraw’ link under the ‘Chicago-Kent College of Law’ header.

FOR INCOMING NEW STUDENTS:  If you decide to withdraw from Chicago-Kent before orientationDO NOT complete the "official withdrawal process" workflow.  Simply contact and inform the admissions office.

Questions regarding the leave of absence or withdrawal process should be directed to regq@kentlaw.edu.
