Welcome Back!

Back to school?  Already?  Time to put away the sunscreen, hang up the barbecue tongs, and pull out the books.  We are happy to have you back.  It has been lonely, especially for me, during the last three months.  We have had a few changes around the Student Services Office Since you left.  Ellen Berger left in June to work for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  I have since taken over as the Director of Student Services and I am especially excited about working with you in my new capacity.  Please feel free to stop by the office , room 544, if there is anything I can help you with.  I can also be reached by e-mail at cmatheny or by clicking on the link above.

London Law Program Deadline

Chicago-Kent offers a semester of study in London each spring semester as part of a consortium with seven other schools.  If you are interested in the London Law Consortium, you can pick up a brochure and application in room 544 beginning today.  Applications and all materials are due to me by Friday, September 11, 1998.  If you have any questions please stop by the office.

Getting Started Workshops - Introductory Meeting

Looking for an edge?  You need the goods from people who know!  I am happy to announce the 1998 Getting Started Workshops.  These workshops are designed to provide first-year students with the knowledge necessary to succeed in law school.  There will be weekly training sessions for each of your first year courses, except Legal Writing.  These sessions are led by Teaching Assistants who have all done exceptionally well in law school and who, in most cases, have had the same professor. They will provide you insight and instruction on everything from case analysis to exam taking.  Sound interesting?  Come to an Introductory meeting and find out more about the program and how you can get involved.  Sessions will be held this Wednesday from 3:00-3:30 p.m. in room 370 and 5:30-6:00 p.m. in room C20.   If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Student Resource Library

The Student Resource Library, located in room 544, is full of information that will assist you in your pursuit of legal excellence.  We have commercial outlines, flash cards, video-taped seminars, and various other study aids.  Best of all, they are all FREE!  You can check out any of the resources for a week at a time.  Try before you buy, or just get some clarification on that sticky rule or regulation.  No need for an appointment, just drop by and check it out.
