Study Breaks and Snacks!
Research suggests that you should take frequent breaks while you study. For example, some experts claim that the average person can only concentrate for about 50 minutes. After that, your ability to learn and retain information decline. For every hour that you study, you should treat yourself to a 10 minute break. We're here to help...

Spring U-Pass and New ID Card Distribution.
All day division students who are considered full-time for the spring 2004 semester will receive a U-Pass, which provides unlimited rides on the CTA from January 20 - May 22, 2004. Status as a full-time student is determined by your official division status, and not by the number of credit hours you take in a particular semester. If you qualify for a U-Pass and want to obtain it during the first available distribution, you must be registered for spring classes by 5:00pm on December 19, 2003.

Spring U-Pass cards and new Chicago-Kent ID cards will be distributed on Thursday, January 15, Friday, January 16, and Tuesday, January 20, 2004. The exact times and locations will be announced in an email sent during Winter Break. Please note: All Chicago-Kent students will be issued new ID cards in January replacing their existing cards. You must pick up your new ID card even if you do not qualify for the U-Pass or do not want to use your U-Pass.

If you are not registered as a full-time student by December 19, 2003, you have a financial hold on your account on that date, or you do not have an ID picture on file in the Registrar's Office by that date, you will not receive a U-Pass during this initial distribution period. Students who qualify for the U-Pass after December 19 or were not included in the initial spring U-Pass request sent to CTA will have passes ordered for them on January 26, 2004. We expect these passes to arrive at the law school by February 4, 2004.

Fall U-Pass Activation Period.
Fall 03 U-Pass cards will remain valid through December 19, 2003, the last day of final exams. If you have problems with your pass before this date, please see Frequently Asked Questions about the U-Pass or the CTA U-Pass website.

Family & Friends Day, January 31, 2004.
Attention 1L's: Save the date! Share your law school experience with your family and friends! This program is intended to give parents, partners, spouses, children, and other important people in your life the opportunity to visit Chicago-Kent and get a taste of what you are experiencing as a student. The program will include a continental breakfast, law school mini-classes, and mock trial with jury participation. Additional materials will be provided via email and in future issues of The Record.
