Week of August 23, 2004

Welcome New Students
Excited? Nervous? Confused? A bit of each? The beginning of law school can be an exciting (and scary) time. If you are experiencing any of these feelings or have a question for which you just can't find the answer, stop by the Office of Student Services. As the Director of Student Services, I meet with students for a variety of reasons, including academic and personal counseling, disability accommodations, administrative concerns, and just general questions. You don't need to make an appointment, just stop by the office, room 310, email me at, or call (312)906-5247.

Also, be sure to check out the Student Services Website. The site contains a great deal of information and resources to help you in law school.

Important Information about Paying Tuition for 1Ls!
Most incoming students have not received their tuition bills even though payment is usually due by the first day of classes. The deadline for paying your tuition has been extended to Friday, August 27! To find an electronic copy of your bill, please log on to the IIT Web for Students. You can use your social security number and birthdate to log on to the system. Please follow the directions carefully. After creating a pin number, you will access the main selection screen. Please choose "Account Summary" under Student Records to find a copy of your bill for this semester. You can pay your tuition at the Bursar's Office on the second floor or online by using Web for Students.

Health Insurance Enrollment & Waiver Deadlines
All students registered for at least 12 credit hours are automatically enrolled in and billed for student health insurance. This applies to both Day and Evening Division students. In addition, all full-time and part-time J-1 and F-1 international students are automatically enrolled in student health insurance.

If you are enrolled for at least 12 credit hours and already have health insurance coverage from another provider, please complete the online Waiver Form by September 1, 2004.

If you are enrolled for less than 12 credit hours and want student health insurance, you can elect coverage by completing the online Enrollment Form by September 1, 2004.

Those of you enrolled in the student health insurance plan will receive your insurance cards by the first week of October. Please verify that you have been enrolled prior to receiving this card by either calling IIT Student Health Center at (312) 808-7100 or checking your account to make sure that you have been charged for student health insurance.
