Counseling Center at the Downtown Campus
The Counseling Center is pleased to announce the availability of services at the downtown campus. These services include initial appointments, counseling sessions, and, as available, walk-in appointments. A psychologist will be downtown in room 447 on Thursdays from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Requests for services should still be made through the central office on the main campus (312-808-7132) and any changes in scheduling or calls regarding emergency situations should also continue to go through that number and the main campus office.

Because the number of hours is limited, several conditions will apply. Sessions should be used primarily by students who believe their counseling will be short in durationóless than 10 sessions. (Sessions are usually 45-50 minutes.) In addition, if a student twice misses an appointment without prior notification to the Counseling Center or cancels with less than 24 hours notice, the services will be transferred to the main campus. These rules are needed to ensure that the downtown services are available to a reasonable number of law and business school students.

The Counseling Center offers professional services by psychologists with doctorates and, on the main campus, a psychiatrist for medication. Students use our services for a wide range of concerns, from study skills, procrastination, and career concerns; to relationship problems and self esteem; and to depression, anxiety, substance use, and suicidality. In any given situation, students may be referred to the main campus for services to provide an appropriate type and level of care. As always, confidentiality is a cornerstone of psychological services. For more information about the Counseling Center, please visit

Please direct all questions to the Counseling Center at 312-808-7132.

Still Waiting for Your Health Insurance Card?
If you are enrolled in the student health insurance plan, you should have already received your insurance card. If you haven't gotten the card, please call Chickering at (800) 841-3140 to notify them of the problem and to request a card.

Flu Shot Update
As expected, IIT's Student Health Center announced this week that they will not be able to provide flu shots this year due to the national shortage of flu vaccine. If something changes and we are able to have flu shots available at the Downtown Campus later this fall or winter, we will notify everyone through an announcement in The Record.

For more information about Chicago's flu shot distribution plans, please visit the Department of Public Health website.

National Lawyers Guild Food & Clothing Drive
National Lawyer's Guild is collecting clothes for Caring Closet and food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The weather's getting cold and the holidays are coming up, so give as much as you can to people who really need it. The donation boxes are located on the first floor near the elevators. Please contact Caroline Cascino at with any questions
