New Discount for Students & Employees at Union Station Multiplex
IIT-Downtown Campus now qualifies for Corporate Membership Rates at Union Station Multiplex at 444 West Jackson (the corner of Jackson and Canal Streets). The monthly membership rate depends on the number of IIT-Downtown Campus students & employees that join the gym:

Number of Participating Students/Employees
Monthly Dues Rate
1 to 10
$95
11 to 29
$90
30 and up
$85

In addition to the monthly membership fee, all members must pay a one-time enrollment fee. For IIT-Downtown Campus students and employees who join by September 30, 2005, the one-time enrollment fee is $99. An additional $12 one-time membership card fee also applies. Multiclub membership is also available for monthly dues of $115. You can find more details about the tiered dues plan when you visit the gym to sign-up. You need to show your student, staff, or faculty ID card to enroll in this program.

This is a great deal. Without the IIT-Downtown Campus discount, monthly dues are $113 and the enrollment fees range from $150-210.

If you are already member at the Union Station Multiplex, you can also benefit from this new discount. Just stop by the membership office to show your ID card and let them know that you are a student or employee at the IIT-Downtown Campus. You'll be added to the list of participating students/employees and given a new monthly rate once 10 new members join.

On Wednesday, September 14, the Union Station Multiplex is hosting a Fall into Fitness Celebration from 5:00-9:00pm. This is a great time to stop by and check out the gym. There will be raffle prizes, games, and food. Each member can bring one guest free on the day of the party. For more information, please call (312) 627-0444.

Waiting for an insurance card and need medical care?
All students who have enrolled in the student health insurance plan are retroactively covered as of August 15, 2005. However, it takes a few weeks for IIT and Chickering to process enrollments. Please don't be alarmed if your doctor or pharmacist tells you that you are not covered by insurance. If your account reflects that you have been charged for health insurance, you are covered but your enrollment is still waiting to be processed.

Students who requested early enrollment processing before August 22, should receive insurance cards in the next few weeks. All other enrolled students should receive insurance cards by the middle of October.

If you don’t have an insurance card yet and need to see a doctor or have a prescription filled, you have a few options. First, depending on what is wrong, you can use the Student Health Center at IIT, where you don't need the insurance information. If you prefer to see your own doctor, you will have to pay out-of-pocket and get reimbursed from Chickering. Students needing to have prescriptions filled will also need to pay out-of-pocket and submit a claim form. (See the Student Health Insurance FAQ for links to claim forms.) Alternatively, some doctors might process your claim without an insurance card if you explain that you have student insurance and are waiting for your card. You will need to provide the doctor with IIT's policy number, 724532, and your ID number, which is your social security number. Temporary insurance cards with this information are available in the Student Health Insurance Plan brochure that was mailed to your homes during the summer. You can also pick up a copy of this brochure at the Registar's Office.
