"Diabetes: Solutions for the 21st Century -- Research, Economics, Policy and Ethics"

Friday, April 18
9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Diabetes has moved to the center stage of health policy both in the United States and around the world, with its combination of lifestyle and social factors and enhanced levels of minority incidence. Policymakers face daunting challenges that span traditional public health concerns and many other disciplines. How do we best reduce the impact of diabetes while ensuring fairness to groups at high risk and advancing local and global health objectives?

To address these issues, IIT's Center for Diabetes Research and Policy is hosting a conference that brings together some of the key voices in our discussion of the chronic disease of the 21st century. This conference will draw on experts from across the disciplines to review the latest developments in research, clinical practice and public policy, with a focus on health economics approaches and ethical implications.
