Nicole A. Martinez

Professor Nicole Martinez came to Chicago-Kent in 2008 with a strong background in public interest law and the social sciences. Her involvement with numerous public interest organizations has included work in judicial education and public policy research with the Institute for Public Law at the University of New Mexico.
Professor Martinez worked as an associate at Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago in the area of international project finance. While a litigation associate at Holland & Hart LLP in Santa Fe, Professor Martinez also provided pro bono mediation services at the New Mexico Center for Dispute Resolution for student disputes at Santa Fe Public Schools. Recently, Professor Martinez developed a program in paralegal studies and a legal research and writing course for Colorado Technical University.
Professor Martinez is a 1999 graduate of Harvard Law School, where she served as articles editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review. In 2006, Professor Martinez earned a master’s degree in comparative human development from the University of Chicago. Her research focused on mental health services in the Mexican-American community. In 1994, she graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a B.A. in anthropology and Latin American studies.
Professor Martinez currently serves on the board of directors for the Center for Economic Development and volunteers with the Center for Conflict Resolution. She teaches legal writing at Chicago-Kent.
