Professor Ralph Brill

 

Ralph Brill

Professor of Law

Professor Brill has been a member of the Chicago-Kent College of Law faculty since 1961. He served as associate dean from 1970 to 1973, and acting dean from 1973 to 1974. For fourteen years, Professor Brill was director of the Chicago-Kent's unique three-year legal research and writing program, for which he is widely known. He is past chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Legal Writing, Reasoning and Research, and a former director of the Legal Writing Institute and of the Association of Legal Writing Directors.

Professor Brill is co-author (with S. Brody, C. Kunz, R. Newmann and M. Walter) of the American Bar Association publication, A Sourcebook on Legal Writing Programs. He has also been an appellate consultant in many important cases, mostly in the torts field.

Professor Brill's bachelor's and law degrees were earned at the University of Illinois, where he served as associate editor of the University of Illinois Law Forum. He teaches torts, products liability, advanced torts, and a seminar on current issues in tort law.
