Assignment — Web Exercise

There are three classes beginning March 1 and ending March 22 that address three clusters of factors that affect Access to Justice and Technology. Each member of the class as a member of team will investigate one of these clusters. Do a thorough web search for materials and web sites and references for your assigned topic. Start with the materials on the website including student work from Spring 2003 and Fall 2004. Concentrate on finding materials and web resources more recent than Fall 2004. Check Lexis and Nexis and library sources that you can uncover. You can divide up the research or proceed independently and then eliminate duplicates and combine the results in the final deliverable. This performance in its three parts described next (in combination with the site visit and report) will constitute 10% of your seminar grade.

Your mission for this exercise is threefold:
  1. Identify a small number of highly informative and challenging readings that you recommend for the entire class. Explain your reasons for selecting these proposed assignments and write a review of the material as a guide for the rest of the class. Based on your recommendations, I will add or modify the assigned readings in advance of these class sessions. Final reading assignments will be posted to the class web site.

  2. Prepare a thinly annotated bibliography of all useful websites and other sources that you found to be helpful to understand the issues you have researched. This annotated bibliography will also be posted on the web site as background material.

  3. Prepare to lead the first 30 minutes of the class on the assigned topic. You may find it useful to prepare a powerpoint presentation to help structure the discussion.
Due Date

The bibliography and reading proposal from all three groups are due Monday February 6. You should submit the assignment as an attachment to an email in Microsoft Word or HTML.
