Internet Law

Fall 1999

Professor Ronald W. Staudt

SYLLABUS

The syllabus that follows is tentative. It may take us more time to complete our analysis of these cases and materials; we may be completed in less time than indicated. This course will examine Internet law developments in the following general areas on the dates specified. Reading assignments for course are posted below. I will add reading assignments as we progress through the semester based on my own selections and the student linking assignments. The initial assignments draw heavily from Professor Nicolas Terry's course materials for Cyberspace Law that he teaches at Saint Louis University. Dozens of other law professors have launched Internet Law courses during the past 5 years and have generously shared suggestions for course materials. I have drawn frequently on the work of Professor David Post at Temple and Professor Pam Samuelson at Berkeley. The best reference text for the law of the Internet is Perritt, Law and the Information Superhighway.
