|
A tort is a civil wrong. That is, the law prohibits people from harming other people and their property in certain ways. When people do cause such harm, tort law requires them to compensate the injured party by paying money.
There are various types of tort liability--including negligence, intentional torts as well as products liability, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and a variety of other causes of action.
The tutorials which follow introduce the topic of torts by examining negligence and intentional torts. These topics illustrate questions which run throughout all of torts. What are the types of legally prohibited actions? When does a person have to pay compensation for acting in such a way? How much compensation does the person have to pay? |
