Vivien C. Gross
Clinical Professor of Law

Professor Gross directs two of the law school’s externship programs: the Judicial Externship Program, which places second and third-year students with designated federal judges and magistrates, and the Legal Externship Program, which places third-year students in the public and private legal sectors. Professor Gross also teaches professional responsibility at the law school.
Professor Gross received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She graduated with honors from Indiana University (Bloomington) Law School, where she was a note editor of the Indiana Law Journal. Professor Gross co-directed and taught courses in criminal law and professionalism for the Chicago futures exchanges. Currently, she serves as professor-reporter for the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility, which reviews the entire body of rules relating to professional responsibility issues in Illinois.
Before joining the Chicago-Kent faculty, Professor Gross was a supervisory trial attorney in Chicago with the Midwest regional office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She is a frequent speaker on professional responsibility topics.
