Biographical Information:
Before entering law school, Mr. Priest was a
songwriter and record producer. He was a co-founder of Westgate
Artists, a music production company whose songs were released
internationally by record and film companies such as Polygram
Records, BMG Music International, and Showtime, and had commercial
clients including 3M and Sun Country Airlines. He has gold and
platinum sales to his credit. Mr. Priest also lived for a time
in Beijing, PRC, where he studied Mandarin Chinese at the Beijing
Language and Culture University, and business and law at the University
of International Business and Economics.
Mr. Priest received his B.A., summa cum laude,
from the University of Minnesota with a major in English and a
minor in East Asian Studies. At Chicago-Kent, he was the Editor-in-Chief
of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and graduated with high honors.
After law school, Mr. Priest was an associate in the Minneapolis
office of Dorsey & Whitney LLP, working in the Trademark,
Copyright, and Brand Management practice group. He specialized
in trademark prosecution and copyright law.
Mr. Priest is currently a fellow at Harvard Law School where he earned his LL.M. He is considering a career in academia. His areas of particular interest include
copyright in the digital era and intellectual property law issues
in China.
