Biographical Information:
Ms. Matthew graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Irvine, with degrees in English and Criminology, Law, and Society. During the summer following her first year at Chicago-Kent, Ms. Matthew served as a law clerk for the CLEAR Initiative, a project supported by Chicago Metropolis 2020. In her second year, Ms. Matthew served as a staff-member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review, spent a semester as a judicial extern for the Honorable Ruben Castillo, U.S. District Court Judge in the Northern District of Illinois, and continued clerking for the CLEAR Initiative. Following that year, Ms. Matthew worked as a summer associate for Mayer, Brown, Rowe, & Maw. During her third year, Ms. Matthew clerked at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in the Special Prosecutions Sex Crimes Division and served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Law Review. Her law review note, Back into Range: A Legislative Proposal to Bring the "15-20-Life" Firearm Enhancements Scheme into Conformance with the Illinois Constitution’s Proportionality Guaranty was selected for publication in the Law Review.
Ms. Mathew served a one year appointment as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber, Senior U.S. District Court Judge in the Northern District of Illinois. Following her clerkship, Ms. Mathew joined the Tax Controversy group at Mayer Brown LLP. Currently, she is an associate in the Tax Department of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom, LLP.
