Mr. Shanbaum graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Music Education in 2001. Prior to attending Chicago-Kent, he worked as a band director and a customer-service representative with a major music store, where he has also developed several educational- and business-oriented websites.
In the summer before his first year at Chicago-Kent, Mr. Shanbaum was a research assistant for Professor Henry Perritt, working on a number of topics related to Operation Kosovo (http://operationkosovo.kentlaw.edu). In January 2005 he traveled with Professor Perritt and several other students to Kosovo and Albania to conduct a number of interviews with local dignitaries and KLA operatives. Mr. Shanbaum continued his research work with Professor Perritt after the summer of 2005, while also working for the Advice Desk at the Daley Center, assisting pro-se defendants in writing motions, answers, and other documents.
Mr. Shanbaum graduated from Chicago-Kent with high honors and is an inductee into the Order of the Coif . He was a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review, and received a certificate in International and Comparative Law. After graduation, Mr. Shanbaum joined Katten Muchin Rosenman, LLP, where he concentrates his practice in customs and international trade matters.
