Biographical Information
Mary Neal graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Linguistics. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Estonia for two years after college, and subsequently planned exchange programs for American and foreign professionals in Washington, DC.
Ms. Neal is pursuing a certificate in Public Interest Law. During law school, she was volunteer coordinator for the Kent Justice Foundation and volunteered extensively helping pro se litigants, persons in police custody, and immigrants detained by the Department of Homeland Security. She spent one spring break working in New Orleans with the Student Hurricane Network. She also competed in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and is currently president of the International Law Moot Court Honor Society.
In summer 2006, she worked on web-based assistance for pro se litigants with Professor Ron Staudt at the Center for Access to Justice and Technology (CAJT). She has continued working with the CAJT as Executive Editor for the A2J Student Editorial board. In 2007, she was a Coles Fellow at the Illinois Human Rights Commission, assisting administrative law judges and commissioners on employment and housing discrimination cases.
