Julie Keener

Chicago-Kent Honors Scholar
Class of 2011

Biographical Information:

Julie Keener graduated summa cum laude from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.  She received a B.S. in Industrial Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management.  After graduating from the University of Akron, she moved with her husband to New York City, where she graduated magna cum laude with an accelerated Associate of Applied Science in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.  After her graduation from F.I.T., she worked as a Technical Designer at Liz Claiborne, Ralph Lauren, and Lane Bryant.  In her position as Technical Designer, she worked with designers and overseas factories to prepare garment prototypes for production. 

Ms. Keener's legal interests are in environmental and labor and employment law.  She was a 1L and is currently a 2L class rep for the Labor and Employment Law Society and is actively involved in the Environmental Law Society.  She spent part of her Spring 2009 semester and Summer 2009 as an Intern in the City of Chicago Department of Environment Division of Permitting and Enforcement.  The rest of her summer was spent in Cost Rica studying environmental law through a study abroad program with the University of Florida and the University of Costa Rica.  She is also a joint JD/MS in Environmental Management and Sustainability candidate with the Stuart School of Business.  Last, but not least, she has a 4 year old son who loves The Ohio State Buckeyes.
