Laura Raatjes

Biographical Information:
Laura Raatjes graduated with distinction from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2006 with a B.A. in English and a minor in Secondary Education. Prior to attending Chicago-Kent, she taught high school English in central Illinois. While there, she also volunteered as a canteen worker for the Red Cross and as a Guardianship Advocate for the Office of State Guardian.
The summer prior to law school, she worked as a research assistant for Chicago-Kent Professor Katharine Baker, helping with research on family law and constitutional law issues. During the summer of 2009, she completed an externship with the Honorable Raul Vega, a domestic relations division judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County. In addition, she assisted Dean Harold Krent with researching and writing an amicus brief for the United States Supreme Court Case, Alvarez v. Smith.
Laura is a member of Chicago-Kent Law Review. Currently, she is an extern for the Honorable Arlander Keys of the United States Magistrate Court, Northern District of Illinois.
