Kyle Carlson

Biographical Information:

Kyle Carlson

Kyle Carlson grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009 with a degree in Physics and Astronomy and a minor in Mathematics.  During his undergraduate studies, he assisted in the search for a specific class of black holes by analyzing data from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-Ray telescope.  Through a research assistant exchange program, he spent a summer at Princeton University helping design sustainable, cheap water filtration systems for third-world countries. Kyle has a strong interest in institutional law and politics that he explored while conducting non-partisan policy research for Iowa state legislators for two years in the Iowa Policy Research Organization.

The summer after his first year at Chicago-Kent, Kyle worked for the private civil rights law firm Loevy & Loevy while taking two night classes. As a 2L, Kyle has worked in the Environmental Law Clinic for two semesters while completing the Program in Environmental and Energy Law.  The Public Interest Law Initiative has agreed to fund his 2011 summer internship with the AIDS Legal Council of Chicago.
