Biographical Information:
Matthew Washburn
Matt Washburn graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University, with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in physics. Following school, he worked as an FPGA engineer for Applied Signal Technology in Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior to school, he served for five years as an Electronic Intelligence analyst in the United States Marine Corps, and for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Matt chose to come to Chicago-Kent to pursue a career in patent law. He spent the summer following his first year as a legal extern with the U.S. Department of Energy, Intellectual Property Law Division, working in patent prosecution. For the summer following his second year, he has accepted a position with the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Dykema. He is a member of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society, and represented Chicago-Kent in the 2011 Giles Southerland Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition. Matt spends his free time with his wife and their three children.
