Abstract

This presentation examined the emerging topic of workplace bullying and potential legal protections for severely bullied employees. In the United States, targets of typical workplace bullying have few viable legal options, although various tort remedies and discrimination statutes may be useful in some instances. The situation is somewhat better elsewhere, including Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Both in the U.S. and abroad, various non-profit and public entities are exploring and advocating for greater protections for targets of bullying.
