Chicago-Kent Summer Study Abroad Programs

University of Augsburg School of Law, Germany
Chicago-Kent can nominate six students to participate in the summer exchange program in European and International Economic Law. Courses are taught in English. Students will pay 50% of the tuition cost for up to 6 ABA-approved credit hours to Chicago-Kent and are responsible for any additional costs. Chicago-Kent Semester Study Abroad Programs

Credits transfer as pass/fail instead of grades at your option. You must notify the registrar of your choice within 2 weeks of starting your semester abroad.

University of Copenhagen, Denmark
Chicago-Kent can nominate two students per year to study at the University of Copenhagen for one semester each. The Spring 2008 semester at University of Copenhagen runs February 1 until June 30. The Fall semester will run from September 1 until January 31. More specific information about the 2007-2008 year can be found here. Students can chose to enroll for either semester. There is a wide range of courses offered in English every semester. Students will pay the tuition at Chicago-Kent and are responsible for any additional expenses. The application deadline for the fall is March 15 and for the spring is October 15. The London Law Consortium, England
Chicago-Kent together with six other ABA-approved law schools presents an opportunity to study in London for the spring semester only. The program will last from January to April. The cost in 2007 was $6,174 in addition to paying for credit hours at Chicago-Kent and all extra expenses. Approximately six students from each participating school can enroll in the program. The students will also have an opportunity to participate in a legal externship while in London. dean Sowle's offie coordinates this program. Application deadline is September 10. University Paul Verlain, Metz, France
Chicago-Kent can nominate upto ten (10) CK students to take 3 courses for 9 credits during the spring 2008 semester, the courses offered in the past in English have included Comparative Constitutional Law, European Union Law, and Comparative Intellectual Property Law and the University will match each student with an internship opportunity in Brussels, Luxembourg, Frankfurt, or elsewhere. These internships are not available to students who do not study at Metz in the spring. The Spring semester runs from January 21 until May 30. The application deadline for the spring is October 15. Bucerius Law School, Hamburg, Germany
Chicago-Kent can nominate up to two students to study at the Bucerius Law School for the fall semester (from August to December). Students pay tuition at Chicago-Kent and are responsible for any additional costs. The Exchange Program courses are taught in English, however, students with sufficient knowledge of German may attend regular classes. The Program also offers two German language classes. Tec de Monterrey, Mexico
Chicago-Kent can nominate two students per year to study at Tec de Monterrey for one semester each. The Spring semester runs from the second week of January until the first week of May. The Fall semester will run from the first week of August to the last week of November. Students can chose to enroll for either semester. There is a wide range of courses offered in English every semester. For more information about courses in English, please click here. University of Waikato, New Zealand
Chicago-Kent can nominate two students per year to study at the University of Waikato for one semester each. The Spring 2008 semester will run from February 25 through June 28, 2008. The Fall 2008 semester will run from July 7, 2008 through November 15, 2008. Students can chose to enroll for either semester. Students will pay the tuition at Chicago-Kent and are responsible for any additional expenses. The application deadline for the fall is March 15 and for the spring is October 15.

University of Oslo, Norway
Chicago-Kent can nominate up to two students to study at the University of Oslo for either spring or fall semester. The Spring 2008 semester will run from the second week of January until May. The Fall 2008 semester will begin with orientation in August and will run through December. Students will pay tuition at Chicago-Kent and are responsible for any additional expenses. Students will be able to choose their courses from a wide variety of classes offered in English. The application deadline for the fall is March 15 and for the spring is October 15. University of Zurich, Switzerland
Chicago-Kent can nominate three students per year to study at the University of Zurich for one semester each. Courses are currently offered in German. For students that cannot speak German, classes will be offered in English starting in Fall 2009. For more information about courses offered, please click here. Students will pay the tuition at Chicago-Kent and are responsible for any additional expenses. The application deadline for the fall is March 15 and for the spring is October 15.

China Exchange - Fall Semester 2008

I. Central University of Finance and Economics – Beijing, China

The course offerings at CUFE include:

·       Introduction to the Chinese Legal System (mandatory)
·       Comparative Company Law
·       Comparative Intellectual Property Law
·       International Tax Law
·       Comparative Government Procurement Law
·       International Buisness Transactions: U.S., European and Chinese         Perspectives

The program begins with an orientation program in August. The semester begins in September and ends in December.
The application deadline for the fall is March 15.

II. Southwest University of Political Science and Law – Chongqing China (Sichuan province)

·       Chinese Civil Law (Associate Professor Liao Zhigan);
·       Chinese Commercial Law (Associate Professor Li Yan);
·       Chinese Economy (Associate Professor Zheng Daxuan);
·       Introduction to Chinese Law (Associate Professor Zheng Daxuan) and
·       WTO and China (Wang Heng).

The Spring semester begins in late February or early March and runs through early July.
