The LL.M. Program in International and Comparative Law is a one-year, full-time program for foreign lawyers who wish to gain a broader understanding of the American Legal System and international legal issues. The LL.M. Program in International and Comparative Law is not open to attorneys holding a J.D. degree from an American law school. The program offers flexibility in the choice of law courses as well as the opportunity to conduct independent research. Students enrolled in the program attend courses and seminars along with J.D. students and can take advantage of the school's cutting edge expertise in areas such as information technology law, e-commerce, and financial services law.
The application procedures are as follows:
Two letters of recommendation are required. The recommendation letters will enable us to assess the applicant’s capacity for advanced legal study. These letters must arrive in Chicago no later than April 1, 2009.
Applicants who are practicing Lawyers must submit notarized copy of their License for Practice. In addition, practicing lawyers must also submit a notarized original copy of their law school transcript. These documents must arrive in Chicago no later than April 1, 2009.
Applicants who are currently in Law school must submit a notarized original copy of their law school transcript no later than April 1, 2009.
