Summer 2009 Introduction to the American Legal System for International Undergraduate Law Students

This special summer program will give students an overview of the American legal system, introduce them to important concepts in American law, and offer many interesting field trips and excursions.

Please click here for information about the 2009 Introduction to the American Legal System summer program at Chicago-Kent, which will take place from July 13 through August 7, 2009 (arrival July 11/12 2009, departure August 8, 2009). The deadline for submitting your application form is April 1, 2009. The deadline for submitting the completed Financial Affidavit is May, 1, 2009.

A Financial Affidavit must be fully completed before any visa documents can be issued. The Financial Affidavit should either be signed or sealed by a bank official or you can include an official bank statement on bank letterhead (it cannot be an online print-out) with the affidavit.  We require all bank documents and affidavits in the original and must be mailed to the Office of International Law and Policy Development. We do not accept faxes or scans of any Financial Affidavit documents. Please click here for the Financial Affidavit and here for more detailed instructions.

All J-1 visa holders are required to have health insurance for the period of their stay in the United States. Please click here for the 2009 summer program health insurance requirements and here for the health insurance attestation (must be completed upon arrival).
