Veterans' groups are urging Congress to revamp the G.I. Bill.
The original G.I. Bill, established in June of 1944, covered the
cost of tuition, fees, books and other expenses at post-secondary
schools. Critics of the Montgomery G.I. Bill, enacted in 1985,
say the law's restrictions place financial hardships on veterans
who take advantage of the benefits. Professor
Michael I. Spak is available for interviews about military
benefits. Professor Spak is a colonel in the U.S. Army reserves
and liaison officer of the Judge Advocate General's School, Charlottesville,
Virginia, for a seven-state area. He is a co-author of Servicemembers
Legal Guide: Everything You and Your Family Need to Know About
the Law.
