A juror in the trial of Scott Peterson has been dismissed and replaced with an alternate. The judge told jurors who began deliberations November 3 after five months of testimony to start over. Peterson is on trial for the murders of his wife and their unborn child. Chicago-Kent professors Douglas W. Godfrey and Richard S. Kling are available to comment on the case. Professor Godfrey is a former prosecutor in the Kings County (New York) District Attorney's office. Professor Kling is a criminal defense attorney.

The national observance of Veterans' Day will be held November 11 at noon at Arlington National Cemetery. Professor Michael I. Spak is available for interviews about legal issues related to the military. Professor Spak is a colonel in the U.S. Army reserves and liaison officer of the Judge Advocate General's School, Charlottesville, Virginia, for a seven-state area. He is a co-author of Servicemembers Legal Guide: Everything You and Your Family Need to Know About the Law.

Chicago's Third Airport?: Gary/Chicago International Airport is approximately 25 miles and 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. While some suggest a new airport in Peotone, Ill., will relieve congestion at O'Hare and Midway airports, supporters of Gary/Chicago Airport say it is the best solution to the area's air traffic problems. Professor Sanford A. Bredine, who teaches marketing communications at Stuart Graduate School of Business, is available to discuss a project his students have undertaken to increase awareness about the benefits of Gary/Chicago International Airport.

The Federal Reserve's policymakers will meet November 10 to consider interest rates. Will the Fed continue to increase interest rates? Professor Robert Laurent of Stuart Graduate School of Business is a former economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He can discuss what the Fed can do to help revitalize the economy.

The National Basketball Association 2004-05 season has begun. Adjunct professor and sports attorney Eldon L. Ham is the author of Play Masters: From Sellouts to Lockouts: An Unauthorized History of the NBA. Professor Ham is available for interviews about the league.

Pallmeyer, U.S. District Court judge for the Northern District of Illinois, at Chicago-Kent's 20th annual Illinois Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program.
