Professor Richard Kling was interviewed by CLTV about the release of surveillance video from the scene of a stampede that killed 21 people at the E2 nightclub in Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune published an op-ed by Professor Elie Geisler on the benefits of the U.S. space program.

Professor Mark Bauer and Professor Joel Goldhar were quoted in a United Press International story about the debate on U.S. policy toward legal and illegal immigration into the United States.

The Chicago Tribune and Chicago Daily Law Bulletin ran stories about a Web site (www.youdontknowauctions.com) created by Chicago-Kent students to inform the public about the dangers of online auction fraud. A story about the site also ran on the City of Chicago's cable station. In addition, Dean Krent and Chicago-Kent student Kelly Neff were interviewed about the site by WUSN-FM and WJMK-FM.

Professor Bartram Brown was quoted in a Chicago Daily Herald story about the risks of a U.S. attack on Iraq.

Dean Harold J. Adjunct professor and sports law attorney Eldon L. Ham was profiled by the National Law Journal.

Professor A. Dan Tarlock was quoted in a Chicago Daily Herald story about a pond purchased by Elk Grove Village to help alleviate intermittent flooding in one of the village's business parks. The purchase could interfere with future expansion plans for O'Hare International Airport.

Lydia Lazar, assistant dean for international law and policy development, was quoted in a North Coast Journal Weekly cover story about a California town that is looking into exporting its excess water supply to other municipalities in the United States and abroad, and the local and international laws that would effect such transactions.

Dean Krent appeared in a front-page photo in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin with Chicago-Kent student David Benson, who is the recipient of a $2,000 Illinois Bar Foundation scholarship, and IBF member and Chicago-Kent alumus James L. Reichardt.

Dean Harold Krent was quoted in a Chicago Tribune story about how the procedural rights of defendants in criminal cases can become a tool for criminals in avoiding conviction.

Professor Lori Andrews was quoted in a Chicago Tribune story about a recent patent application by researchers at the University of Michigan on a type of cell they believe causes breast cancer. The story addresses criticism from legal experts and ethicists who are concerned that ownership of such "disease" cells – and hence concerns about profitability -- could influence future breast cancer research.

Professor Nasrin Khalili was quoted in CNNMoney and Chicago Sun-Times stories about her research group's breakthrough that could potentially eliminate mercury from power plant emissions.

Professor Andrews and Lori Rosenow, senior fellow at IIT's Institute for Science, Law and Technology, were quoted in a Chicago Sun-Times story about a Chicago-based research team, led by Andrews and Rosenow, that is developing ethical guidelines to help museums and other institutions safeguard valuable items in their collections in light of the increasing number of requests by researchers who want to study DNA remnants that may be on those items.

Professor Sheldon Nahmod was interviewed on the WLS-TV and WMAQ-TV evening news broadcasts about potential ramifications of the U.S. Supreme Court's forthcoming decision in the University of Michigan affirmative action case.

Dean Harold J. Krent was interviewed on WFLD-TV's evening news about the privacy implications of background checks for potential Boy Scouts of America leaders. He was also quoted in a Chicago Tribune story on the subject.

Professor Philip Hablutzel was interviewed by the WLS-TV evening news about the possibility that American Airlines' parent company may fire its CEO and file for bankruptcy.

Dean Krent was a guest on WTTW-TV's "Chicago Tonight" to discuss measures consumers can take to protect themselves from online auction fraud, such as visiting the Web site www.youdontknowauctions.com, a collaboration between Chicago-Kent honors scholars and the Chicago Department of Consumer Services aimed at educating consumers about online auction fraud. Professor Richard Kling was interviewed on Fox News Channel's "DaySide with Linda Vester" about a gag order issued in the Laci Peterson murder trial. Professor Kling was also quoted in an ABCNews.com story about the trial.

Professor George Nassos appeared in a WGN-TV weather segment entitled "Ask Tom" about a partnership between IIT and The Field Museum to build a small-scale wind turbine that could serve as a prototype for a renewable energy source for the city of Chicago. Professor Nassos was also quoted in a Chicago Sun-Times story on the project.

Adjunct Professor Eldon Ham was interviewed by BBC Radio about the controversy surrounding Sammy Sosa's corked bat.

Professor Lori Andrews appears in "Bloodlines: Technology Hits Home," a documentary film about the ethical and legal consequences of genetic engineering. Professor Andrews was quoted in a Boston Globe story about the film.

Adjunct Professor William Kling was a guest on WMAQ-TV's "City Desk" to talk about legislation he drafted -- dubbed the "bully bill"-- and how it relates to the Glenbrook North High School hazing incident.

Professor Andrews was quoted in a Chicago Tribune story about a lawsuit in which a Homewood couple is suing a scientist for patenting the gene that causes Canavan disease without their knowledge. The couple, whose son was afflicted with the disease, supported the scientist's research with money and with blood and tissue samples from their son. Michael Burns, assistant dean for admissions, was quoted in a Chicago Law Bulletin story about the Law School Admission Council's Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars program for which Chicago-Kent is one of a handful of law schools to host the program.
