Professor Henry H. Perritt, Jr.’s CD, “Wind Will Fill the Sails,” was the focus of a Chicago Daily Law Bulletin story. Professor Perritt and alumnus Matt Topic are quoted in the article.

The New York Times published Professor Lori Andrews’ op-ed, “The Bones We Carried.” Professor Andrews’ commentary mirrors the issues in The Silent Assassin, the most recent book in her Alexandra Blake mystery series. The op-ed was republished nationally and in the International Herald Tribune.

Professor Evelyn Brody was quoted in a Chronicle of Higher Education story about governance issues in  nonprofit organizations. This is the first story in a two-part series.

Professor Richard Kling was quoted in three Chicago Tribune stories about Christopher Vaughn who was charged in the fatal  shootings of his wife and children.

Professor Lori Andrews was quoted in the obituary of Pulitzer Prize winning Chicago Tribune science reporter Peter Gorner.

May 2007

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin covered “Who Owns Your Body,” a day-long conference at Chicago-Kent. Professor Lori Andrews was quoted and pictured with guest speaker Michael Crichton in the article. After the conference, Professor Lori Andrews was a guest on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight to discuss issues discussed at the conference.

A Polish News Bulletin story about Internet Law mentioned the second International Conference of New Technology Laws a conference organized by the University of Gdansk and Chicago-Kent to discuss legal issues related to the Internet and Technology.

Professor Richard Kling was quoted in a Chicago Daily Herald story about errors in the trial of a man accused of the 1993 murder of seven people at a Brown’s Chicken restaurant.

Professor Matthew Bernstein was quoted in a Chicago Daily Herald story about the concept of religious sanctuary.

Professor Lori Andrews was quoted in a Patriot News (Harrisburg, Penn.) story about a man who donated sperm for a lesbian couple’s two children must pay child support since he involved himself as a stepparent and had assumed some of the parenting duties.

April 2007

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin published “Historical Déjà Vu: Attorney General Gonzales and Grover Cleveland,” an op-ed by Dean Harold J. Krent.

Elizabeth Turley, assistant dean for institutional advancement was quoted in a Chicago Daily Law Bulletin story about the $1 million gift to the law school from the estate of Sadie Berkson. The Chronicle of Higher Education also published notice of the gift.

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin published a notice about the establishment of the Roy C Palmer Civil Liberties Prize.

Professor Mark D. Rosen was quoted in Burt Constable’s column in the Chicago Daily Herald about a dispute in an unincorporated subdivision near Mount Prospect to ban alcohol using a 73-year-old law.

“Breaking the law: Our ridiculous patent laws have left us with a system of legalized extortion” by Professor Lori Andrews was published in “The Playboy Forum” in Playboy Magazine.

An Arizona Republic (Phoenix) story about tissue research mentioned a research paper by Professor Lori B. Andrews.

Professor Richard Kling was quoted in an Associated Press story about jury selection in the trial of one of the defendants in the 1993 Brown’s Chicken murders.

Chicago-Kent was mentioned in a Chicago Daily Law Bulletin story about the U.S. News & World Report law school rankings.

The University Wire ran a story about Chicago-Kent student Sean Wieber’s work as a citizen drafter of legislation to mandate the placement of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at all outdoor physical fitness facilities in the state. The story was distributed nationally to college student newspapers.

The Chicago Tribune published “An Irish Freshman Adapts to Dorm Life,” an op-ed by professor William Birdthistle.

Professor Richard Gonzalez was mentioned in Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Pioneer Press Newspapers, Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune stories about two federal grand jurors who claim they were fired in retaliation for serving on the jury. Professor Gonzalez was assigned by chief U.S. District Judge James F. Holderman to represent one of the jurors.
Professor Richard Kling was quoted in a Chicago Tribune story about the acquittal of three defendants on criminal charges in the 2003 stampede in the E2 nightclub where 21 people were killed.

February 2007

Adjunct professor William Kling was quoted in a Chicago Daily Herald story about increased penalties for reckless driving in school zones.

Professor Evelyn Brody was quoted in a Pittsburgh Post Gazette the economic hardships for cities caused by nonprofit property tax exemptions. 

Dean Harold J. Krent was quoted in a Chicago Lawyer story about the expansion of the family law practice and Chicago-Kent’s role as one of the first law schools in the country to offer a master’s degree in family law.

Professor Sheldon H. Nahmod was quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer story about free speech and the Internet.

Chicago Tribune sports columnist Rick Morrissey wrote about Chicago-Kent student Sean Wieber’s work as a citizen drafter of legislation to mandate the placement of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at all outdoor physical fitness facilities in the state. Wieber’s work had its genesis in a course taught by adjunct professor William Kling, who is also mentioned throughout the column.

January 2007

Dean Harold J. Krent was quoted in a Chicago Daily Law Bulletin story about new themes in what law schools teach.

Professor Nancy Marder was mentioned in a Dallas Morning News story about the upcoming National Jury Summit hosted by the American Board of Trial Advocates.
