Reflection by Dean Henry H. Perritt, Jr., on Roger O'Reilly '59

Chicago-Kent is deeply saddened by the loss of one of the staunchest members of its extended family. Roger Kevin O'Reilly died Sunday morning, August 20, 2000, in Wheaton, Illinois.

Roger O'Reilly was a leader of the bar and of his community. He shared his own family with Chicago-Kent, with two of his children, Molly '91 and Kevin '92, and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth '92, receiving their legal educations at Chicago-Kent.

He was a valued adviser to the Dean, and took the initiative to link Chicago-Kent graduates in Du Page County with the law school's activities. Just last October he and his wife, Dorothy, hosted an extremely successful event to extend our reach to Du Page County alums.

He was honored by his alma mater with the 1995 Chicago-Kent Alumnae/i Distinguished Service Award. He was also very proud that he was a second-generation Chicago-Kent alumnus, following in the footsteps of his father, a member of the Class of 1904.

I will always remember his quiet enthusiasm for his law school and his wisdom on how to improve Chicago-Kent, the Bar, and America.

Henry H. Perritt, Jr.
