About PIRC

Our student-staffed office assists other students achieve their public service goals. We provide information for those who are interested in public interest, volunteerism, and pro bono legal work. Primarily, we help students find legal and non-legal projects, including one-time and ongoing service opportunities.

Our office also publishes the bi-weekly newsletter Public Interest Matters, which alerts the Kent community to upcoming service opportunities and other related news and events within the school and local area. Paper copies are available outside the Spak and in the student lounge. Electronic versions are distributed through our mailing list and are archived online.

Moreover, we administer the program that awards the Chicago-Kent Certificate of Service and the Dean’s Distinguished Public Service Award, which recognizes outstanding student volunteer efforts. Students can:

and review eligibility requirements online. Recipients of these awards are recognized at our annual reception.
