Register for the Dean's Certificate of Service.
Students who spend 50 hours or more volunteering during law school may be eligible to receive the Dean's Certificate of Service. The first step is to register for the program. Then, if you already have a volunteer position, just keep track of your hours on your Volunteer Timesheet and either turn it in to the office every two weeks, or email us with your progress. If you do not have a position yet, we can help you find a volunteer legal or non-legal position that fits your schedule and interests. Please keep in mind that you cannot be receiving any financial benefit or any school credit for your efforts. If you have questions as to whether your position qualifies towards the Dean's Certificate of Service, please contact our office.
At the end of each school year, the Public Interest Resource Center will hold a reception for all students enrolled in the program. At this reception, all students who have achieved 50 hours or more will receive their certificates. This certificate not only looks great on a resume, but also shows that you care about your community.
