Check out the November 7th issue of Public Interest Matters newsletter

Our newsletter, published twice a month, contains information about current volunteer opportunities and upcoming public interest events at the law school. Paper copies are also available throughout the building, such as on the table outside the Spak and in the student lounge.

Turn in your timesheets

Thank you to those of you who have sent in your September timesheets. For those who haven’t, please get them in! You can do it via email or drop them off at the office (Room 654). If no one is in the office when you stop by, just slide them under the door and we can add them to your files.

Register for the Dean's Certificate of Service & Submit your volunteer hours online

Students can now register and submit their volunteer hours to our office electronically. Alternatively, downloadable forms may be printed out and turned in. Please check our forms page for more information.

About the Dean's Certificate of Service:

Students who spend 50 hours or more volunteering during law school may be eligible to receive the Dean's Certificate of Service. The first step is to register for the program. Then, if you already have a volunteer position, just keep track of your hours on your Volunteer Timesheet and either turn it in to the office every two weeks, or email us with your progress. If you do not have a position yet, we can help you find a volunteer legal or non-legal position that fits your schedule and interests. Please keep in mind that you cannot be receiving any financial compensation or any school credit for your efforts. If you have questions as to whether your position qualifies towards the Dean's Certificate of Service, please contact our office.

At the end of each school year, the Public Interest Resource Center holds a reception for all students enrolled in the program. At this reception, all students who have achieved 50 hours or more will receive their certificates. This certificate not only looks great on a resume, but also shows one's dedication to community service.
