From Professor Kent Streseman
Marc Grinker Award
The Marc A. Grinker Outstanding Student Commitment Award was established in memory of our former Director of Appellate Advocacy. It is awarded to a Vice President or Senior Associate of the Moot Court Honor Society who has demonstrated "extraordinary dedication and commitment."
Please join me and Moot Court Honor Society President Tracy Gregar in congratulating Max Stein and Andrea Ricker Wolfson, this year's winners of the Grinker Award. As many of you know, both Andrea and Max have compiled outstanding records as moot court competitors. They're being honored, though, for what many of us don't see: their profoundly valuable commitment and tireless dedication to the present and future of the Honor Society, to getting its business done and to helping its members realize their full potential.
The Society's record this past fall -- one win, one finals berth and one semifinal finish in three tournaments, supplemented by a best brief and best oralist award -- vividly illustrates that Chicago-Kent's relatively young appellate advocacy program is good and getting better. Many share in the credit for this, but none more than the senior members of the Society who must, by virtue of their job descriptions, dedicate themselves to succeeding in myriad roles: as students, as advocates, as mentors, as administrators, as colleagues, as guardians of the program's budding tradition, and as architects of its bright future. Along with fellow Grinker Award nominees Jeremy Thompson, Faye Hizon, Angelic Little Turner and Pam Quigley, Max and Andrea have been dedicated. And successful. The Society and this law school are better as a result.
Andrea and Max will share a $1,000 scholarship. They will be recognized at this year's Moot Court Honor Society banquet.
