From Professor Bernadette Atuahene

Documentary film organization seeking a student intern

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated student intern with strong writing, research and interpersonal skills. Intern candidate must be able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision. The intern's primary responsibility and duty will be focused on developing a presence for the documentary film in social networking forums, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious, MySpace, etc.

Substantial experience with social networking is required; experience with filmmaking and/or fundraising is a plus. Intern must be a work-study student and available to start working by March 22.

Are you interested in?

  • working on an evocative documentary film project
  • enhancing your marketing and social networking skills
  • learning about post-Apartheid effects in South Africa
  • gaining experience with a nonprofit organization

If you answered "YES" to any of the above, this position is for you!

Documentaries to Inspire Social Change (DISC) is a nonprofit organization co-founded by Chicago-Kent law professor Bernadette Atuahene. DISC's first film, Sifuna Okwethu, will be an evocative story about land theft in South Africa. A sneak peek of the film can be viewed at www.discwebsite.org.

Interested students should e-mail their resumes and interest letters to Professor Atuahene at discfilm@gmail.com.

DISC's mission is to educate people through documentary film and accompanying curricula about the land dispossessions in South Africa.
