From Professor Steve Heyman

March 27: Forum on Same-Sex Marriage and the Supreme Court

On Wednesday, March 27, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the auditorium, the law school will hold a Forum on Same-Sex Marriage and the Supreme Court. Professors Katharine Baker, Steven Heyman and Christopher Schmidt will discuss the issues and the arguments in the two potential landmark cases that the justices are hearing on Tuesday and Wednesday of that week: Hollingsworth v. Perry (a challenge to California's Proposition 8) and United States v. Windsor (a challenge to a key provision of the federal Defense of Marriage Act). Professor Carolyn Shapiro will moderate.

The event is co-sponsored by the Chicago-Kent Institute on the Supreme Court of the United States (ISCOTUS), the law school chapters of the American Constitution Society and the Federalist Society, and the Chicago-Kent Lambdas. A reception will follow in the lobby.
